In April 2000, the Cybermedia Center (CMC), a center for collaborative use of information technology by researchers in Japan, was established to strengthen information infrastructure in and outside Osaka University. The aim of CMC is to achieve remarkable evolution in information and computing infrastructure by complementarily and systematically integrating functions of computing technology-related organizations, as well as to provide an advanced infrastructure for the accumulation and the dissemination of digital contents and for the efficiency of the high level utilization.
 
CMC consists of seven research divisions and one administrative division. Activities by research divisions are the following.
